    Name: Petit Verdot

     

    Pronunciation: "puh·teet vr·dow"

     

    Origin: Petit verdot’s origins lie in the Bordeaux region of France, where it was cultivated by the Romans almost a thousand years ago.

     

    Notable  Regions: Petit Verdot is now grown in Argentina, Australia, Chile, Italy, Peru, Portugal, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, Long Island, Mexico, Washington, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.

     

    Grape Color: Red

     

    Wine Color: Violet-black  

     

    Wine Sweetness: Dry

     

    Oak:  

     

    Body:  Full-bodied wine

     

    Grape Clusters: Relatively compact, with small thick-skinned clusters.

     

    Tannin: High tannins

     

    Acidity: Medium acidity

     

    ABV (Alcohol by Volume): 13.5% – 15%

     

    Fruit Taste:  Black cherry and plum.
